Purchasing firearms

Over the counter: Over the counter purchases of long guns are available to any eligible US citizen or Resident Alien at our shop in West Yellowstone. Over the counter handgun purchases are available only to eligible Montana residents.

Web, phone, or mail order purchases: Firearms purchased via our web site or through phone or mail order, and which you do not plan to pick up at our shop in West Yellowstone, must be shipped to a licensed dealer for you to pick up. Altius must have a signed copy of the license of the Federal Firearms Licensee (gun dealer or "FFL") to whom you wish us to ship your firearm. The license must have an original signature IN INK. Photocopied or faxed signatures are not acceptable. If you have trouble locating a FFL in your area, contact Altius as we maintain a nationwide file of FFLs just for this purpose. Note that most FFLs charge a "receiving fee" to receive a firearm. This fee is your responsibility and is to be negotiated and paid solely by you.

Shipping firearms for repairs

As a licensed FFL, Altius may receive your firearm for repair directly from you. We may also return your firearm directly to you after service. Long guns may be shipped by whatever means is most convenient to you. Handguns MUST be shipped via an overnight service.

All returns must be accompanied by sales receipt
Free shipping available for replacement items

Ammunition: NO RETURNS

New items:

  • Firearms and Optics: No returns except for manufacturing defects. Refund or replacement will be made according to factory warranty. Items must be returned in original packaging.
  • All other new items: Replacement or refund will be made for manufacturing defects.
  • "I changed my mind": Items may be returned if they are unopened and unused. A restocking fee may be assessed.

Used items: One week inspection; full refund if not satisfied with product.

Special orders: Returns are handled on a case-by-case basis.
