Rosewood and walnut with ebony

This new design is the result of rule changes made by the IBU in the Spring of 2003. It incorporates elements that allow optimization of both standing and prone position in the same stock without the addition of accessory risers, palm grips, etc. The deep stock directly below the receiver allows for excellent elbow to hip contact without thrusting the supporting hip forward, thus avoiding any unbalancing of the stance. This particular customer's standing position incorporates a "bridge" between the thumb and fingers of the supporting hand, thus the extended and widened base directly below the receiver. The best position for the supporting hand in the prone position is directly around the barrel. This stock accommodates this with its dramatic up sweep in the forend. Although a radical departure from standard stock construction and form, optimum balance and function are maintained throughout this new design. This stock is also a fine example of the artistic combinations of woods available through our custom work. Solid rosewood laminations were used for the two outer layers of this stock, with a solid walnut core and walnut accents on the palm swell, cheekpiece, and butt plate. In addition, ebony tip and grip caps have been added to provide contrast and decoration. Cost for a stock of this type would be $1075 due to the premium woods and unusual design features.
